Hyundai Eon - A Pie

Its a small car for sure, but its different. I got up close a hyundai eon a few days ago, and I must say I liked the look of the car at the rear. I did not like the design in the front though. The boot space is less and so is the power of the engine but for a small car with descent looks what more can you ask for? Atleast it looks better than the Alto.

I have been probing into this for quiet some time now and finally I have decided that the following would be the most important attributes I would look in my next car around my budget. Interior Space, Boot Space, Suspension, Engine and Drivability. Nothing else matters. The mileage, the cost involved, how cheap is the service etc is important but after looking at the features of so many cars it seems to be that all this while I was trying to chase the wrong feature list in a car. In others words I am trying to make it simple for you to decide on what makes a car a really good car.

When you drive in the city or in the highway the one thing that matters the most is the suspension. I recently sat inside the Tata Manza and was blown with its suspension. I could feel nothing. The roads to my house in Mangalore are really bad even today and this car simply cruised with ease. My i10 on the other hand would make someone inside it puke. Its simply too bad in handling a rough terrain. Tata Manza has a wishbone suspension with shock absorbers and i10 has a twin axle beam suspension. You see the difference?

The next thing and the most important is how your engine reacts to your moves. When you hit the pedal it just needs to do what you think it should. If it takes too much time, then maybe its not worth it. On this regard I loved the Mahindra Renault Logan. What a car. It easily clocked 150 kms (can go more) with ease. And with each gear shift it seems very eager to push itself. Its just amazing. Your car needs to have the power, the proper wieght to power ratio and a good engine.

I never thought much about boot space when I bought the i10. My only criteria was a small car and a hatchback, buut having travelled with the family around I have realised how important it is to have a good boot space. Its not a car if you cant carry your world in it. Sometimes when something does not fit in, it just makes you feel that the car itself is useless. I can't even pick my brother and family from the airport because their baggages wouldn't fit. Doh!!!!

The same goes with the interior space. You should feel like a king inside. Its should be a car and not a crowded bus.

Power steering and drivability is again important. Your car should respond to your moves instantly. On this regard I love my i10. To me personally it works quiet good and is very satisfactory. I can cruise around comfortably with the steering and change gears with two fingers.

So there you go. When you look out for a good car look into these five parameters first. Then look into the other things. You would be spending 100% of your time inside the car driving it around. So it is important for you to focus on these items. Overtime you will realise that looks just dont matter. Thats probably one reason why Maruthi does not care so much about it. It matters what is inside and not outside.

It' cheaper than the i10, less powerful than the i10, comes with most of the goodies of the i10 and looks good and appealing in design and build. So this means, more cars on road, more traffic congestion and the possibility of all middle class families to own a descent looking car. And yes, its from Hyundai and people can bank on it based on its past historical success with Santro and its good customer service.

Another hatchback from Hyundai is targeted this month. Its the EON. Its sports 814 cc three cylinder engine, and is expected to give a mileage of 21.1 km / litre.

So what is different in this car?? Maybe the design. It looks a step ahead of most of the other hatchbacks we have out there in its segment. I am comparing it to the A-Star, Beat, Nano and the Chevrolet Spark. I have feeling Hyundai is trying to place this car below the i10. So it would be priced less.

Mahindra XUV 500

Got to see this monster at MG Road. It sported this military color and at the first glance it seemed to be an imported car. But a closer look and it had Mahindra's logo. What???

I have not seen any ad for this on TV or in the papers. Whats going on? Well, it does not matter. Mahindra claims it to be its first global SUV. So here is the website. http://www.mahindraxuv500.com/

It does look good in the rear, maybe a little cramped. The seating at the rear end of the vehicle is only for two people. That's a little disappointing. Nothing so great about the interiors. We have seen it all. I like the side profile. It looks different and mean and so is the front profile. The dashboard looks unique. It looks like Mahindra has really done its homework pretty good here. Its got AWD and a bunch of other good stuff. Have a look. You might be impressed.

Mileage counter - i10

After close to two years now my i10 gives a mileage of 15 to 16 km / litre. Not bad. I was expecting it to be bad. But I guess I am a good driver expect for few scratches and couple of dents here and there. Sometimes shit happens even if you are careful. So I can't help it.

Renault Koleos

Its a 4WD.. hooo hooo! But 1995 cc seems a little under powered for a 4 WD. Xylo comes packed with 2498 cc. It comes loaded with all the goodies and is available in automatic transmission and 6 manual gears. Price in Bangalore is 23 lacs. Xylo comes at 8 lac. Is it worth it.. you decide.

Nissan Sunny - Affordable

We were in the cab talking of cars, companies, car pooling, petrol cost and blah! blah! blah! and I bumped into this hoarding with an ad of Nissan Sunny. I was thinking to myself.. not another petrol car please. But you know what.. everybody is in the competition before the fuel runs out. So what the heck! Introducing to you Nissan Sunny.

It was originally launched in 1966 as the Datsun 1000 as has come a long way since then. My friend said it was cheap, starting at about 7 lac so I decided to probe into it. So like the Micra - which apparently was a boring looking car to me,Sunny has the start and stop button. I love it when a car does not need the key to start the engine. Its got space, nice interiors, sports a fresh dashboard and lots of boot space. Sunny boasts and banks on these features and I agree. Its not only about the car, its also about the space. Be it where you sit or how much you store its always better when there is more space.

The exterior styling is nothing new. We have seen better for sure. The car that comes to the top of my head with a good exterior design is the Hyundai Verna Fluidic. What is really interesting with Sunny is the price. Its priced at the cost of a hatchback. It starts at 5.78 lacs and tops 7.78 lac ex showroom Delhi. Sound reasonable isn't? It also comes loaded with all the goodies we expect in a car. So why not Sunny? Give it a shot.

Beer or Petrol

With beer now being cheaper than petrol in India, I think technology should improve to use it as a fuel instead. Imaging drinking beer and also using it for your car. If you run short of it, you can always suck it out from the fuel tank.

Love the new Hyundai Verna. The style is simply cool. Its better than the three or four variants that they brought up in the market. Though the styling looks a bit similar to the i10 and the i20 it does definitely stand out from its competitors. Its called the Fluidic Verna. If I had one of the old version I would have upgraded it for sure. Priced between 7 to 10 lacs it looks worth considering the bag loads of features it comes bundled with. The styling is different and unique and rises the bar of Hyundai a little.

TVS Apache RTR with ABS. hooo hooo!!!!!

I was watching the RTR with ABS test on television the other day and was impressed with the technology on this bike. It was true ABS in action. One take was the Apache with no ABS but with supports and you could see the vehicle slide left and right. And on the other take was the Apache with the ABS and no supports and voila! it is still on road. It just signifies how important of such a feature on a bike. You could just be safe. And what more you can turn it on and off. Its just amazing. The ABS is usually equipped in heavy duty bikes like the Hayabusa but it would be first of its kind on an Indian bike.

Renault - Fluence

I got to see one in Koramangala and something did not seem right with this car. The rear looked blunt and unfinished in design but the front end was satisfying. What is really impressive in this car is its interiors. It quite good for the Indian market and upto the standard everyone look for. Estimated mileage per liter is 13.4 kms and is packed with all the goodies we see nowadays. Soft touch dashboard, engine start / stop button, rear AC vents, rain sensitive wipers, rear parking sensors and lots more. Priced at 14.5 lacs and with all these equipments is it worth it? Well... you decide.

The scratches in your car as you clean it..

At night when you are on road try focusing on the paint job of the vehicle in front of you as your head light reflects from it. You will notice those horrible scratches. I am not talking about the deep ones. I am referring to the light ones that are mostly not visible under normal conditions. Most of the time they are circular. Now wait a second. These scratches are not natural. These scratches form because of bad cleaning technique.

We use a cloth, dip it in water and wipe the car and then we repeat the process. Every time you dip the cloth in water you need to make sure the cloth is fully clean of dirt before it is used to wipe the car again. The dirt on the wet cloth would in turn scratch the paint if not clean. Though the damage is minuscule, it would eventually end up ruining the paint and the shine of you car. So, if you are cleaning or requesting your car to be cleaned by someone then take care and follow instructions as mentioned in the manual of your car. I would recommend cleaning your car yourself. Its fun and you get to spend some quality time with your mate.

Jaguar XJ

I had been wanting to write a post on this one but been busy lately. The day before yesterday I got to see a stunning beauty at night. From a distance it seemed different and I could not figure out the make or the manufacturer of the car. When it did come close - phew! it was smoking hot. A true stud I must say. The car was nicely carved, was long and had fine details matching those of BMWs and Mercs. To me it was one step ahead. I am simply talking about the beauty of this masculine vehicle and the opinions of the eyes of hundreds of people gazing at this awesomeness in the night. I am talking of the Jaguar XJ.

Look at this. The wheels are wide and the car is long. The interiors are mind blowing and the exteriors are mouth watering. The lights in the rear were unique and not to mention the stunning jaguar logo. It seemed out of the box and surreal. I know I am getting hyper here.. but man! what a car!!! Volkswagen Touareg

Yesterday I happened to see a new car on road. The Volkswagen Touareg. It was the first time for me. Sometimes I wonder why a big car like this is on road? Though it looked mean it did lack some punch in its looks. The same bland looks like the polo and the vento. For some reason I feel a little let down about the design of Volkswagen. The polo, Vento and Touareg don't impress much as far as the looks is concerned. Maybe like Maruthi Suzuki they worry more about what is inside that the outside. Makes sense but does not appeal. After all what is a point of buying gold if it does not glitter?

Maruthi Kizashi

They say its a sport car. but.. errr... hmmmm! what is so sporty about it other than its price??? The interiors look bland, the exteriors look ok and the website SUCKS! 16 lacs for this? Are you kidding me? However what is impressive is the original sports version which is not available here in India. It was a concept car. Now that looks like a sports car. A little insipired from Bugatti Veyron I guess.

But you know what.. if it is only the sporty looks that matter then I would very well go for Chev Cruz. This looks mean. And it is 4 to 5 lacs cheaper that Kizashi. Another question? Why do they still manufacture such cars? The same old fuel sucking, low mileage, air polluting, blah blah vehicles in the pipeline for consumers. What is good about these vehicles? Its just a big dent in your savings. I wish this was an electric version. It would have been simply fantastic.

My car's mileage after a year

Its close to a year since I purchased my i10 Magna 1.2 kappa and I decided to test its mileage. Its just an approximate figure as I did not bother to get too technically precise with the measurements.

Without AC:

The drive was for four days from RT Nagar to Koramangala and back again. Its about 16 kms one way and totally it comes to about 16 * 8 = 128 kms. I usually go to the shell petrol bunk in bellary road and this time I filled for 500 rupees which is about 8.2 litres of normal unleaded petrol. So the mileage comes to about 15.6 kpl. It could be more as I drove around other places too but I am not considering that here. So approximately I would say 16 kmpl. The company says 19.6 kpl and I am close to that.

With AC:

Yesterday I had to pick my friend from whitefield. He was newly married and we had invited them for lunch. I had been to the same petrol station this time and filled for 500 rupees. This time the AC was on throughout the journey. The drive was from RT Nagar to whitefield and back again. I had to go to whitefield, pick them up, drive back to my place in RT Nagar, drop them back and drive home again. So one way it was about 31.5 kms. So totally it was about 31.5 * 4 = 126 kms. So the mileage comes to about 15.36 kpl. I would approximately say it was about 14 kpl.

Mileage - Do you get what the company promises?

Yes! You do get close to what the company promises if you drive well. I was watching discovery turbo where they tested three different cars in road conditions to determine if they match the company promised figures. The cars were from Skoda, Volvo and another company I don't recollect now. All tests seemed to match close to the figures promised. So it looks like there are bad drivers out there ;-)

A man in a jeep!

My friend and I were waiting at a signal and we saw a man in a jeep go past us in the other direction. He had his hair gelled and neatly done and wore what looked like a ray ban sun glass. The jeep was open and this man could not control giving the "mere sapno ki rani" look to everyone around. Thats when my friend asked me.. should it not be made mandatory for people in such open vehicles to wear helmets in addition to the seat belts. Well.. I dont have an answer to this.. but it does make sense though. ;-)

I am slowly falling in love with this technology. Right opposite our office lives a family that owns this cute little car. Its noiseless, sleek and compact. Reminds of the Mini 1000 that Mr. Bean has. Damn! you can park it anywhere in a jiff.

Reva is sold in the UK and in other countries. The new version Reva L-ion cab give upto 125 kms per charge. And its got disk brakes!!!

Airbag safety device

I was having a debate with my friend yesterday as to why the SRS Airbag safety device is considered as an optional accessory in a car being sold in the market. Hyndai i10 for example has different versions in the market - Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta. And only the high end models come with SRS Airbag device. Its the same with other manufacturers too. Shouldn't it be made mandatory that every car out in the market has this feature built into it and priced accrordingly? Is'nt as important as having the seat belts in all cars?

Best looking sedan from behind

These were the vehicles I could see on road today. I might have missed some good ones out there. If I happen to see them and if it impresses me then I shall update the list above. Until then this is what I have.

Tata Indigo CS

I drove the Tata Indigo CS - Diesel in Mumbai. It was the first time I ever drove a diesel car. It felt good inside and the controls were not that bad. However what disappointed me was the sound of the engine and the movement of the gear handle if I happened to not accelerate enough while moving in the first gear. The vehicle had a good pickup and was quiet descent in its performance. The issues above could also be because of the poor maintenance as my friend did not care much to keep it in good shape. Who said Tata Motors manufactures cars that felt like trucks?

Mahindra Logan - Hmmm! Not bad..

I was on my way to the city from the Airport in Bangalore in a cab and I did not expect Mahindra Logan to be so smooth. I don't know if it was the skill of the driver or the car but sitting in the back seat I simply enjoyed the drive. The gear shift was smooth, engine was smooth, pickup was good and he easily hit 120 in less than maybe 15 secs. And what really got me wondering was the smooth suspension. I could not feel a thing. I was comparing it with the i10 I have and I asked my wife if she felt the smooth suspension sitting inside our car and she said the cab seemed to be better; or maybe he was driving so fast she could not feel a thing.

Hmmm! lets see... button start and stop, intelligent key system, clever arrangement of the interior buttons, 18.06 kmpl and slightly different looks. It looks like A-star when seen from the front. Nothing more. And yes! A very bad website.

I am curious to know how much better it is in comparison to the other hatchbacks we have in the market; especially the Polo. I have not seen a micra on road in Bangalore yet. Its just a matter of time.

It is more or less a slightly modified version of the scooty but TVS has made sure there is something in this that makes it different from the rest in the market. Trip to Mangalore

First long trip to Mangalore since I bought my Hyundai i10 kappa and I simply loved it. The AC sets to work within seconds and the engine does not feel underpowered at all. The max speed I attained was 120 kmph. I was not confident going faster than that because I was worried if I would lose control. So I maintained a steady speed of 80 to 90 kmph.

While going it was via Madikeri and the total distance was about 375 kms. Computing the average the vehicle gave around 17 kmpl. And this is not bad at all. My AC was on most of the time. We were three of us while heading to Mangalore. And full house (five) while coming back to Bangalore. While returning it was through the ghats, via Hassan.

Happy with the vehicle so far.

Hyundai i10 - Kappa

So far so good. The drive has been good and so is the performance of the vehicle. Will initiate a long drive very soon. Lets see how it goes. I have just been busy at work. And now that it is done.. its time to rock! More updates after the trip.

And yes.. Had been to the service center at Sheshadripuram and the experience has been ok. It was delivered a day later. I had an scratch and requested them to do a good paint job but unfortunately they could not find the right color to match the white color of my car. Finally they did SOMETHING. There was nothing much I could do. Why make life complicated for such meager issues. I left it and now my car looks like it is sporting a earring or something.

And after that I had one major scratch (with a dent) and two more (one of which I don't know how it happened).

Hyundai i10 Magna Kappa - Second Week

Now I am saying to myself every time..... "The car is good... the driver is bad....". I had been on a long drive to Innovative City - Close to 120 kms. The drive was good but I seemed to have a problem with the first and the second gear most of the time. For some reason I feel the shift sometimes tight. The third and fourth however had no issues. I thought it was probably me not pressing the clutch fully. This would be an issue I shall rectify during my first service.

I am going to end my review on this car here. But I conclude saying this - "It is a great car for a populated city like Bangalore. Its kappa, so I have nothing more to say.".

Review of a week - Hyundai i10 Magna 1.2 kappa

There were some goof ups with the executives in the showroom. Missing documents, loose screws, the stereo deck popping out etc.. but it was soon rectified. The most important thing anyone must do is check if all the documents is available. I failed to do this and then had to call them back and they promptly attended to the request. My schedule that week had been very hectic and had a lot of back logs to attend to.

Anyways now almost a week I must say I like it so far. In fact I had few people knocking the windshield while in traffic asking me if the vehicle was good. Good interiors for a hatchback, great design, great engine and off course the bells and whistles. What more can you ask for?

Fiat Punto / Linea

Both these cars look great. The first thing I noticed is the clean finish. And after a very long time I am finally seeing a car with a difference. Today I got to see about three Lineas and two Puntos on the streets of Bangalore. And they seem reasonably priced as well. The Linea is priced at a max of 8.3 L in bangalore and the Punto at a max of 6.3 L. This is the ex-showroom price.

It is definitely admiration guaranteed for me.

Chevrolet Cruze

Hmmmmm.... 12 lacs???? why would I want to buy this car when can I get a spacious Toyota Innova for close to 5 lacs lesser? And whats with the interiors? 12 lacs buddy, its half the price of a good posh flat in a city like Bangalore and all I get is a Maruthi Alto kinda interior??? Huh! You must be kidding..

I would recommend GM to go back to the drawing boards and come up with some changes and a sensible pricing for this vehicle. I would only be surprised if it becomes a hit in the market.

Sorry for not having posted a blog for so many days. I was in midst of so many other things. So.. whats new.. hmmmmm.... ah! Harley Davidson. Yes all biking enthusiasts.. Harley Davidson is now in India. The company founded in 1903 and headquartered in US is now whetting its hands in India.

So the website is http://www.harley-davidson.in/. Give it a shot. They have the following bikes in store for sale. The famous Sportster, DYNA, Softail, VRSC, Touring and VSO. The V-ROD VRSC is simply mouth watering. Phew! what a vehicle.

Have not had a chance to know the prices of these vehicles though. If anyone knows how much it is do comment on it. Some say that it might take another year for the vehucle to actually be on Indian roads. Lets be patient until we see the light at the endof the tunnel. So for now just enjoy!

TVS has unleashed a new high performance bike of the Apache RTR (Racing Throttle Response) 180. The new ARE website of TVS features galleries of stunts and gimmicks done on this bike. Check out the new ARE website. This is similar to Bajaj's move on the Stunt Mania. Here ARE stands for Apache Racing Experience.

The 180 RTR sports some latest cool features now. As days pass by the manufacturers come up with new things to spice up the existing models in the market to meet customer expectations. The Bull Horn Grab Rails and the Air Scoops are some noted features of the Apache RTR. The latest features I like is the removeable rear mud guard. This was done to give the bike the superbike look. But Apache is too small and style like this might not suite it quite well. However it is a great feature.

And yes! The bike now comes in white color. The black and white combo looks great but I think it is best suited for the traffic policemen and not for aaam aadmi!

Be it TVS Apache or Bajaj Pulsar or any other 4 stroke cool bikes we have on road in India; there is one thing I am quiet not clear with. Why don't these bikes have a under seat box for storage?

It's quiet obvious that the seat box comes as an accessory, but hey, it is a matter of convenience. The seat box is very uncomfortable for a pillion rider and it spoils the beauty of the vehicle too.

Do humans really lack ideas? I am saying this because I enjoy travelling in my Honda Dio. I also have a TVS Apache. Nah! it's not about speed, but the sexy space that the vehicle has is just amazing. When it rains for instance I can simply dump all my gadgets and items inside that huge under seat box and happily get myself drenched. But imagine doing this on TVS Apache or Pulsar and you have to sacrifice something.

The seat we have in TVS Apache, Doh! Such a weird thing to do just to remove it. First you have to remove the box to the side of the bike, then pull that string and then the WHOLE DAMN SEAT POPS OUT. And if you pull the string hard, you end up having the string in your hand. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr! cheap isn't? I would have replaced the string with a pivot just like in Dio. Simple as that.

I would be happy to know any other bike which has some good seat box which comes with the bike and not as an accessory. Give your say on this and I would be happy to know.

Had known about this bike while watching discovery channel and thought of sharing few facts about this mean machine to you all.

Ducati 999 sports a V twin engine and is half the size of the honda police bikes. Which means it weight half as less as them and still is agile, mean and fast. It clocks around 200 mph and has four valves per head of the v twin engine. With a 1000 cc engine it is powerful and an absolute speed monster. Sometimes you just wont know how things go against you all of a sudden. I had to pick up my friend about 25 kms from where I stayed in Bangalore and it was 8 PM already. And as I started from home, series of unfortunate events popped. The first thing; my clutch wire broke. I struggled a lot trying to start the engine and eventually managed to ride without the clutch till the mechanic shop.

If your clutch has gone for a toss, bring the bike to neutral by pushing the vehicle forward. Star the engine and push ahead and engage the first gear. And when the bike moves you don't need the clutch from then on. Depending on the speed engage and disengage the respective gears. Though not the right thing to do, it can atleast save some precious time especially when you are in a hurry.

The second horrific event, I was out of fuel. I wanted to fill it at the nearest station, but my attempts of trying to make my way to the mechanic shop sucked all of it. So I had to push. Make sure you are always ready for the journey well in advance.

If anyone has ever observed advertisements that promote dark skin turn into fair skin in 2 weeks, the first question that probably should run into your head is (if you are someone like me) why do we have to change a dark person fair? I mean isn't a dark skinned person beautiful? What is wrong in being dark? And the best part is that it does not just stop with women. These advertisements now tend to woo the society of men probably to tell them that no woman would ever fall in love with him unless he is fair.

Now, coming to the point. Try imagining the same situation in trying to design a car like Lamborghini. It runs on fuel, harldy gives a double digit on mileage per kilometer, and is expensive. The bottom line, only a few can afford it. So the question still remains, why do we need a car like this?

The amount of energy spent on designing a car like this is enormous. The mould, the structure of the vehicle demands it. Or else it would be like any other car in the market. Can't we just save energy by making people understand the simplicity of life? Think about it, and it does make a big difference. People are greedy and this is what makes them innovate things that are broadly meaningless to the world.

My TVS Apache 150cc

Two years down the lane and my TVS Apache still rocks. It is quick, responsive and stable as it was before. I have no counts on the number of times I touched 100kmph, did bends and gimmicks with this beast. No qualms in having bought this one. I had a couple of terrible accidents though. Not that serious. I accidently tend to cluth the front brakes too hard oblivious to the fact that they are too responsive. Now this is dangerous for anybody. NEVER NEVER NEVER clutch your disk brakes so hard. It could be disastrous.

It took me a while to realise that the rear drum brakes helped a lot in preventing the vehicle from skidding. And it is always better to drive slow. I have now controlled my adrenaline of driving fast. Its not worth it to put yours and others lives in stake. But my beast is healthy. He rides as he did before. Its definitely a great bike.

What a vehicle. It is fast, stable, noiseless, has a big comfortable pillion seat and lots. To me the best of it is the convernience of carrying things when you go for shopping. Its got a reasonable boot space under the seat, two different compartments cleverly crafted for your bike papers, and two helmet hooks. And yes the hook right under the seat for hooking anything you want to.

Its given me an average of 43 kmpl. And I recently travelled about 60kms at one stretch with it. And yes this has been one of the flagship vehicles for honda motors. So there is demand, there is style and there is something in it.

The onlt annohying thing I have faced with it is trying to kick-start it in the morning. With the choke on it takes a few kicks to warm the engine a little and then it is all set to go. I have the latest silver.

The objective of developing a roadworthy vehicle that consumes just 1.0 litre of fuel per 100 kilometres could not be achieved through compromise. All existing technical solutions were examined, and in close cooperation with numerous suppliers, replaced by better, and principally lighter versions. The result is a vehicle that looks more like a sports car than a typical research vehicle. The conceptual necessity for a small frontal area led to an unusually narrow and very flat body form being chosen. The body was developed in a wind tunnel, is 3.47 metres long, but just 1.25 metres wide and just over a metre in height, and is made completely of carbon fibre composites. To save weight, it is of course not painted. The carbon-fibre-reinforced outer skin is tensioned over a spaceframe that is not made of aluminium, but rather of magnesium, which is even lighter. The 1-litre car is powered by a one-cylinder diesel engine, centrally positioned in font of the rear axle and combined with an automated direct shift gearbox. The crankcase and cylinder head of the 0.3-litre engine are of an aluminium monobloc construction. The naturally aspirated, direct-injection diesel engine employs advanced high-pressure unit injection technology to generate 6.3 kW (8.5 bhp) at 4,000 rpm. This gives the vehicle, which weights just 290 kg, an astonishingly lively temperament. Fuel consumption is a mere 0.99 litre per 100 kilometres. With a 6.5-litre tank, this gives a range of some 650 kilometres without refuelling. Due to the restriction of space, it was not possible to adapt an existing gearbox. For this reason, a compact, automated 6-speed gearbox is employed, which is controlled from a turn switch in the cockpit. Running gear made of lightweight alloy, tyres that offer optimised rolling resistance and 16-inch wheels made of extremely lightweight composite material perfectly complement the economical drive system. The interior is sportingly simple in design, yet offers enough space for two people, who can comfortably get in after folding back the turret-like gullwing door. An extremely lightweight construction has also been employed for the seats. The seat frames are made of magnesium, and firm, yet comfortable fabric covers are used instead of a classic upholstery. Despite the lightweight construction of all components, safety has been a major element in all phases of the development of the 1-litre car. For example, the concept vehicle's safety equipment includes anti-lock brakes, ESP electronic stability program and a driver's airbag. Deformation elements at the front end and the spaceframe construction provide impact and roll-over protection comparable to that of a GT racing car.

The sports-car-like design demonstrates that Volkswagen's 1-litre car is not a spartan research vehicle, but a high-tech special vehicle. It starts with the special seating arrangement. The driver and passenger sit centrally as if in a monoposto, but in tandem. The mid-engine is installed transversely in front of the rear axle. With its complex design (double wishbones at front, DeDion suspension at rear) and combined with the low centre of gravity and low overall vehicle weight, the lightweight running gear results in very agile handling. Since its launch in september 2008, the number of yamaha yz16s on road has increased tremendously. I must say.. this bike looks good, sounds good, and rides good. Most people yank about just one thing of this bike. The headlight and the doom. They were expecting some pulsar or apache styled doom I believe.

But overall... this bike is cool. It is stable, can easily throttle at a max of 125kmph, is mono-shock, has a great pickup and is cheap. And hey, if it is the predecessor of the Yamaha FZ1 then it should be good. The brand name speaks it all. And yes... I have seen so many of them ... and I feel it is the most odd-looking cool bike on road.

AWD - All Wheel Drive:

Air Cooled Engine:
An air-cooled engine is cooled by the passage of air, generally forced around and over the cylinders.

Air Filter:
An air filter is installed to prevent the dust and dirt particles in the air from entering the engine's cylinders. It filters out the grime and sends clean air into the cylinder for the combustion process to take place.

Aluminum Cylinder Block:

The Apache is attractive with the screaming racing stripe running along the center. The pulsar is over a year and half old and its presence on Indian road is unmatchable. And the Yamaha YZF R15 with its R15 technological prowess is just cannot be ignored.

The following three blogs below clearly show Yamaha beating the other two boys in all aspects excepting for the price. And if a 150cc can do the job of a 220 cc pulsar why go for pulsar then??? Off course there are so many other things to consider. But yet, Yamaha speaks from its raw experience. And it does matter a lot.

The Yamaha R15 comes equipped with a Deltabox frame and some of the best mechanical bits that is miles ahead that any other motorcycle in the country. The bike is indeed very entertaining. The Yamaha R15 belongs to the racetrack. And so does TVS in the dirt biking arena. I wonder if Bajaj has this background.
